The Laser 5000 is a powerful double-handed dinghy. She was inspired by Australian 18 Footer and she uses some of their extreme attributes including a huge asymmetric spinnaker without snuffer or wings made of tubes leaving a space between the rack and the gunwale. She was part of the 11 shortlisted skiffs, by ISAF in 1996 as Olympic dinghy, the 49er was selected.
Although she is fast, the Laser 5000 is also designed to allow everyone to sail, she is equipped with adjustable racks to compensate the weight and height of the crew members, and for smaller it is possible to fit baby bars, intermediate bars. To keep an affordable price, the construction is simple (only the deck is made of sandwich) and spars are aluminum.
