The RS 500 is a double-handed dinghy designed for middleweights crew. The refined development had made her almost as fast as a skiff like 29er and as easy to access as a 420. Lightweight, relatively stable and with a large sail plan she allows a first approach of skiffs, RS Sailing offers 2 versions: S with Dacron sails and XL with sails, larger, made of Mylar.
The hardware is simple and well thought no mainsail traveler; the reversed vang clears the deck for the passage. Centerboard and rudder rotate to facilitate departures and arrivals.
With her qualities and a competitive price, the RS 500 has quickly captured the audience and now the regattas are raced in most of Europe. The RS 500 class was recognized by ISAF in 2009.
