First 265

In the line of the First 310 with whom parentage is flagrant, the First 265 attempts to provide a fast and fun sailboat while offering comfortable accommodations. The high freeboard makes the necessary volume and the wide aft part of the hull favors the dimensions of the single cabin. The convertible saloon allows two more sleepers. The First 265 is well equipped: dual stove on gimbal, pressure water, large ice box and plenty of storage. The varnish teak limits brightness but reinforces the impression to be in a larger boat. With these assets for comfortable cruising the First 265 prefigures small Océanis.

While sailing the First 265 is swift thanks to her large sail area and the powerful hull forms. Windage is felt especially for maneuvering with the engine. On deck, there are two interesting innovations: the lowest shroud chain-plates are integrated on the roof and genoa rails are used as handrails. Three versions were proposed: large draft 1.50m – 4.9ft with keel bulb, shoal draft 1.15m – 3.8ft with wing keel and swinging keel 0.84m – 2.8ft / 1.85m – 6.1ft, from 1993.
