Dufour 4800
Deep draft

Designed in collaboration between Valentijn Design and the shipyard, Dufour 4800 contains many unique technical solutions. For example the forces caused by the mast and the rigging are partly transmitted to a steel arc placed around the hull of the boat. This is quite a clever solution; however the steel arc is subject to corrosion and thus requires some special attention. Another nifty feature is the placement of the engine in the “Owner” version of the boat: rather than being at its usual place under the companion ladder, the motor is placed under one of the saloon seats. This gives the accommodations more room, improving also the central balance in general.

This versatile cruising sailboat works well in competitions too. To suit the accommodations better for a full race crew, Dufour has also presented a sporty version in which the size of the big aft cabin is diminished into two separated bunks, one on each board. In both versions the entrance is on the starboard side of the hull's center line. This feature is yet one of Dufour 4800's specialties.
