Etap 30i

The Etap 30i is a clever cruising sailboat. The sail area is smaller than the competition, but the self-tacking jib simplifies a lot manoeuvring and the high ballast ratio allow reefing later. On the other hand hull forms have been optimized to reduce the wetted surface and increase the length of the waterline. The boat is efficient but requires 7-8 knots to really sail.

On deck, and inside, everything is neat; deck fitting and woodwork are blameless. Good surprise despite the unsinkable foam, storage areas are numerous and well designed, the large sliding tray under the fore bed is especially appreciated.

A particular option was available on this ship, EVS for Etap Vertical Steering System: a hybrid steering between wheel and tiller offering the comfort of the first, compactness and the reactivity of the second. Note that it is possible to steer with a stick but then the inverse of a classic tiller you must be pushed to bear away...
